Redland Bay, Queensland 10.10.09

Sitting in a park by the bay, wind blowing in our hair...

munching on the biggest and most scrumptious chocolate eclairs,

flying home made paper planes,

watching the clouds roll by,

I like the holidays...

...cause I get to eat chocolate eclairs

...or at least half of one shared....with Toby.

Lizards and other things

Laidley is always lots of fun and full of surprises for the boys. Dirt to dig in...

tractors to ride on...

...and lizards, a bearded dragon I think.

The boys get to connect with Granddad and help him out with stuff, hammering, tractor driving, digging the dirt and collecting sticks for money.

I love catching up with Joan, having a laugh and just hanging out with her, she's got to be the best hula hooping mother-in-law I know.

Hula hooping in Laidley

After our long journey from Sydney we spent the night at Laidley in "The Shed" and woke up to everyone hula hooping with Joan's home made hula hoops out of poly pipe. Good exercise for the waist and hips.

"I like driving in my car...

...it’s not quite a jaguar"....it’s better. Our new car finally redeemed itself after weeks of being out of action, the Naboo starship carried us safely to our destination. I drove the boys up to Queensland on my own again and boy did we fly (not necessarily going over the speed limit) it just went by so quickly. Cool weather, blue skies, jacaranda’s and silky oak's flowering all the way. Stopping at parks every two hours for a break, we discovered this licorice looking climbing equipment in Tamworth where the boys were nearly blown off the top of it the wind was so strong.

It took 13 hours to reach Laidley, our first stop for a night to catch up with Wayne and Joan, Donald's parents, before heading on to Ormiston to my mum's. The boys were on their most excellent behaviour, with dvd’s and ipods to keep them happy and occasional glimpses of spring lambs, calves and foals along the way to add a special touch to our spring holiday.

I really do like our car now, she's fantastic for those long distance journeys...just love her.

I would have fried...

...had I gone to the beach today, it's what I classify as a stinking hot day. I'm glad Toby and I went on Tuesday instead. It was the first day without blustery winds, the sun was shining and we really needed to try out Toby's new bucket, spades and digger that he got for his birthday. So after I put a load of clothes on the line to dry we drove to Mona Vale beach. A very nice chill out kind of day.

The tide was high and we watched the waves splashing up over the tidal pool and wash over the rocks.

The seagulls were hoping for some tasty lunch morsels.

Toby showed me his body art that he had tried out (with my biro) whilst I was hanging clothes on the line...
