Trunk or Treat smell my feet...

Give me something good to eat.

Chop my head

or pick her nose

bob for apples

Or strike a pose!

I don't want to be buried in a pet cemetery!!

From left: Don the scary doctor, Lief, King of Deltora, Sammy severed head, Asterix and a Hippy Flower child full of love and peace. We had our Halloween Primary activity at church this afternoon, a warm afternoon, with lots of cakes, games, lollies and trunk or treating (trick or treating from car to car). There were lots of costumes and decorated cars. Ours was a pet cemetery decorated by Donald and the boys. Click on the photos to get a closer look at the head stones, they make me laugh.

Lollypops and Jellybeans

....is what you get when you turn four.
Building a lego house for panda and friends with your mum.
A handful of jellybeans and a lollypop is what you get when you turn four.
Playing with the car racing track,
watching the cars go round and round.
Lots of jellybeans from the doctor,
and a lollypop from mum when you turn four.
Visiting with pre-school buddies,
playing pirates and jumping on the trampoline.
Being four can be lots of fun.
Battling swords with your brothers or
being mesmerized by Richard Scarry's books.
Munching on Jellybeans and Lollypops
make those four year old immunizations
seem like they never happened.
Oh what a brave little man you are Toby,
what a brave little man...and only four.

Walking down Wellington Point

Now a holiday at Grandma's wouldn't be complete without a visit to Wellington Point. It was an exceptionally windy day which brought more dust from the west and knots in your hair. The tide was low and it was the right time for a walk out to the little island across the sand bar. More mangroves, mud flats and some pretty prickly pears in flower (say that 3 times fast). A play under the shade of the giant Moreton Bay Fig trees, sadly not much swimming though, the tide was waaaaaay low.

Holidays with the Strawberry Queen

Life is good when I go back home to my mum's. It's our holiday by the seaside. Great big blue skies, wispy clouds, pelican's gliding by, riding the scooters with the boys, going for runs/walks down by the water, white caps on the bay as the wind picks up, a sailing boat capturing that wind....and mud flats. What fascination they hold, tiny crabs, shells, coral, slimy seaweed, puddles and sand to dig in. We always hate having to go home, usually because the sun is high and hot and it's time to protect our skin.

Not forgetting the luscious strawberries grown around the corner from my mum's in the rich red volcanic soil. I have never tasted such sweet, juicy strawberries...ever!! We brought these back home with us to Sydney, the last pick of the season.

It's no wonder I want to move back there...maybe next year.

Redland Bay, Queensland 10.10.09

Sitting in a park by the bay, wind blowing in our hair...

munching on the biggest and most scrumptious chocolate eclairs,

flying home made paper planes,

watching the clouds roll by,

I like the holidays...

...cause I get to eat chocolate eclairs

Lizards and other things

Laidley is always lots of fun and full of surprises for the boys. Dirt to dig in...

tractors to ride on...

...and lizards, a bearded dragon I think.

The boys get to connect with Granddad and help him out with stuff, hammering, tractor driving, digging the dirt and collecting sticks for money.

I love catching up with Joan, having a laugh and just hanging out with her, she's got to be the best hula hooping mother-in-law I know.
