Carols, glow sticks and fire works

Ever since we moved to Sydney over 8 years ago we have gone to the Christmas Carols at the local park.  I must admit our first year in Sydney, with a one year old Sam, we didn't go because it was too late for my over protected first baby to be out with the mozzies.  So Donald and I sat on our front porch, listened to the singing from a distance, got a glimpse of the fire works through the trees and felt like we had missed something special.  We've been going pretty much every year since then except for last year which was pouring with rain so we didn't even attempt it.  This year we did.  It's a combined effort of different churches in our area that organise it and is usually a good place to bump into friends from the neighbourhood or from school.  We have our usual spot where we lay our picnic blanket, right up the back near the soccer field where the fire works are set off.

It's usually a good place to be with very active boys and their light sabres (glow sticks), there's a bit more space and we can still see the stage and hear the carols being sung.  We usually eat dinner at home as it's always a Sunday night and we take some desert or treat to nibble on in between singing carols. Once again I had some fun playing with the camera as the boys battled each other with their glow sticks or fought the fire works.  Enjoy the photo's, I really like the eerie light of the swirling glow sticks and the explosive patterns of the fire works.

This one looks like the aliens have landed or it's "War of the Worlds".
